Death of Harry Wincott

Composer of some 2000 songs, best known of which were World War I Comedy Winner "Mademoiselle from Armentieres" and even earlier "The Old Dun Cow Caught Fire".

Harry Wincott passed away in a Yeovil Public Assistance Institute on Monday of this week. Wincott whose private name was Alfred James Walden was 80 years of age and although he spent more than 50 years writing songs, like so many other writers of his time, he sold his numbers outright for ridiculously small prices.

He died a poor man.
